For your IELTS score, you will be grouped in one of nine bands.

6Competent UserEffective command, inaccuracies
5Modest UserPartial command, many mistakes
4Limited UserLimited command, frequent problems
3Extemely Limited UserOnly general understanding
2Intermittent UserOnly basic understanding with difficulty
1Non UserNo language ability
0Did Not Take TestN/A

If you are on the upper edge of one of these bands, it is definitely profitable to work your way into the next one by studying and practicing.
